A live-in camp for children,parents and teachers with marimba workshops,percussion,song and dance
Workshop themes: NZ music,African music,Marimba Festival repertoire,Orff Music for Children,Jon Madin’s favourites,Circle Games,Sing and Play,Zimbabwe music and more.
Accommodation and Food: All meals are catered for and accommodation is bunkroom style with many different sized rooms to suit families and groups.
Presenters:
Millie Locke is a teacher at Henderson Valley School who loves working with people of any age who want to make music on marimbas. Her workshop will focus on a few pieces with a New Zealand flavour.
Renee Morin is a music/performing arts primary school teacher at Kristin School in Albany and is also a member of the marimba group Mhara which specializes in Zimbabwe music.
Philippa Drake is Music Specialist at Wairau Int teaching music,dance and drama. Her workshop called ‘Sing and Play on Sunday’ will incorporate singing simple melodies and harmonies and combining these with instrumental accompaniments.
Caroline Zeeman enjoys teaching music in the Howick and Pakuranga areas. She teaches marimba at St Marks School and enjoys writing her own marimba music.
Clare McCormack teaches music,including marimba,in several schools and in the community. She is the co-ordinator of the Marimba Festival with ONZA.
